Russian authorities are taking further measures to prevent the spread of the novel Corona virus (COVID-19). On March 16th the Mayor of Moscow issued a new decree, which obliges all individuals traveling to Moscow from the UK, US, all European countries, Belarus and Ukraine to enter self-quarantine for 14 days or for the duration of their stay.
Moreover, the Russian government issued an order stating that from March 18th until May 1st, foreigners are barred from entering the country (except a number of categories of people, such as those who legally, permanently reside in Russia).
It is highly likely that this measure will lead to a decrease in the number of commercial flights between Moscow and the European Union. Dutch citizens who are currently in the Russian Federation and who wish to leave the country soon are strongly advised to contact the airline with whom they booked a ticket, to ensure that they can still take a flight back.
